Two more modifications for my Super SD System 3 v2, to bring it onto the same level as the new revision B.
First things first, there was also a new firmware released that fixes the reversed audio channels: 1.02 R05
These modifications are much more invasive than the fixes I did last year and will definitely void the warranty. There are quite a few components to remove:
Yellow circles – FBX stereo bypass amp mod board (by FirebrandX)
Blue rectangles – FU-RGB video driver (by Voultar)
The components can be removed quickly and easily with the right tools. I don’t like to have tiny resistors flying all over the place, so I use the hot air station for the larger, multi-legged components (i.e. ICs) only. For all the two-legged components (i.e. resistors and capacitors) I use desoldering tweezers. A stereo microscope helps greatly.
FBX stereo bypass amp mod board
I started with the audio modification because the distorted sound in FX Unit Yuki annoyed me a lot. The instructions can be found here.
FU-RGB video driver
After all audio tests were successful, I continued with the video modification. The instructions can be found here. I never had any problems with the RGB output at all, so this is only for raising the board revision.
A visible reminder of the voided warranty is the serial number on a thermopaper sticker. It turned black after using the hot air gun to the op-amp IC U15.
The modifications can also be seen through the translucent case.
